Meet JoAnne Nuccio, LMHC, CAP, CTP
Welcome and thank you for visiting my website.
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (in Florida and Georgia), Certified Addiction Professional and Psychotherapist who has been in private practice since 2000. I provide counseling and psychotherapy for individuals and couples seeking to address addiction, relationship issues, and challenging life transitions. Psychotherapy is a journey of change and growth that we will embark on together. It is a healing process that explores behaviors, emotions, and the way you think.
Education
My educational background and training includes a Master’s of Science Degree in Education from St. John’s University, New York and a Master’s of Science Degree in Counseling Psychology from Palm Beach Atlantic University, Florida. As a therapist with specialized studies in Christian Counseling, I recognize and value the importance for some individuals to explore their issues from a spiritual perspective. I respectfully welcome and encourage men and women of ALL faiths who desire to address their spiritual concerns within our therapy sessions.
Post-graduate Training
I have received post-graduate training as a Certified Addiction Professional through the Hanley-Hazelden Center, and I have been committed to helping others overcome the devastation of alcohol, drug, and food addiction in both inpatient and outpatient treatment facilities throughout Palm Beach County since 2000. I utilize an Interpersonal Psychoanalytic approach- together with Cognitive-Behavioral methods- to assist you with moving forward from the obstacles and patterns that keep you trapped in unhealthy and self-destructive cycles.
Both personal and work experiences have awarded me the opportunity to assist women and men struggling with eating disorders for over twenty years. My passion is to encourage those who cannot imagine life beyond the disordered eating compulsions -and more importantly, to see them get better. Those who struggle with bulimia, binge-eating disorder and body-image issues can discover the underlying reasons for these painful cycles of behavior and learn new ways to cope with complicated feelings and challenging life events.
Through ongoing post-graduate training with the William Alanson White Institute in NYC, my work includes studies as an Interpersonal Psychotherapist with specialized training in the areas of Eating Disorders, Addiction and Compulsions. In addition, I have earned a Certificate in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy with the South Eastern Florida Institute for Psychoanalysis & Psychotherapy in 2011-2013. This approach to therapy will allow us to explore how early life experiences may influence your present day and help you uncover patterns in your life that lead you down certain pathways. With greater understanding and clarity comes the ability to heal and also create space for new opportunities and choices to emerge.
Our work together can help you improve your self-esteem, address relationship challenges, enable you to manage anxiety better and increase your self-awareness so that you can adjust and make the life changes you desire…
In the safety of a warm, comforting atmosphere, or via teletherapy, we will address the obstacles that may stand in the way of a better life for you and your loved ones.
As a Certified Telehealth Practitioner (CTP), I am happy to offer teletherapy to clients in Florida and Georgia.
